Bowien van der Linden

I’m Bowien — 27, Dutchie from Noordwijk, but raised half in Cape Town. Where my parents, who are windsurfers settled when Cape Town was discovered as a watersports meca, I grew up in the ocean: bodyboarding, surfing, SUPing, and windsurfing. During uni I spent less time in Cape Town and the water, until wingfoiling appeared in 2019. My dad and I tried it, got hooked instantly, and never looked back. While still working on my product design engineering degree, wingfoiling became a bigger and bigger pat of my life especially when I started competing and became surf-freestyle world champion in 2021.

I finished my masters degree in 2023 and now am fully dediced to wingfoiling and travel the world wingfoiling, to train and compete, and when I’m not wave, freestyle or slalom winging, you’ll usually find me on a foil — especially downwind SUP foiling or surf foiling.
